前作「My soulS」から１年半、ここに「Washi soul」のリリースが出来たことをとても嬉しく思っています。 2020年は私が５０歳になった年でありますが、当初はホールでのワンマンライブなど大きなチャレンジを計画してお りました。しかしながら新型コロナウイルスの感染が広がり３月下旬にすべてのライブの中止を決定し、気持ちを切り 替え次のアルバム制作へ注力することをSNS上で発表しました。

I am very happy to have released "Washi soul" here. 2020 is the year I turned 50, but at the beginning I was planning a big challenge such as a one-man live in the hall. However, the infection of covid-19 spread and we decided to cancel all the live performances in late March, and announced on SNS that we would change our minds and focus on the next album production.

その際、函館サウンドパパ吉田さんの紹介で2019年に 知り合った世界的ギタリスト KENJI SUZUKIさんからのご厚意でお声がけを頂き、私の曲にギターを入れて頂けることになったのです。早速2020年３月からデモ音源の制作に入り、５月からロンドン在住のKenjiさんと音楽データのやり とりが始まりました。当初は1～２曲の想定で作業を開始しましたが、その後もサポートして頂けることとなり、最終 的にはアルバムコンセプトへのアドバイスやアレンジ、ギター以外にもベースや鍵盤、曲によってはボーカル以外の すべての音をKenjiさんに制作して頂くなど、アルバム制作全般においてサポートを頂きました。私にとって夢のよう な作業であったのはもちろん、このような幸運な機会に全力で挑みました。コロナ禍でありながらとても刺激的で有意 義な１年でした。Kenjiさんには感謝してもしきれない思いでいっぱいです。

At that time, Mr. Yoshida, Hakodate Sound Papa, introduced me to the world-famous guitarist KENJI SUZUKI, who I met in 2019, and kindly asked me to add a guitar to my song. We started producing demo sound sources in March 2020, and started exchanging music data with Kenji, who lives in London, in May. Initially, we started with the assumption of one or two songs, but after that Kenji will be able to support me, and eventually kenji will give advice and arrangements to the album concept, other than guitar, bass, keyboard, and some songs other than vocals. I received support in the overall album production, such as having Kenji produce all the sounds of. Not only was it a dream job for me, but I tried my best to take this lucky opportunity. It was a very exciting and meaningful year . I am very grateful to Kenji.

アルバム名の「Washi soul」は、The Beatles「Rubber soul」にインスピレーションを受けて命名しました。Rubberは ゴム。Washiは和紙。その心を簡単に言うと日本人soulsin-gなりのSoulを世界へ発信、という感じでしょうか。同時に アルバムコンセプトも「和」というものが形成され、ジャケット等に葛飾北斎の作品を使わせてもらいました。 世界的に活躍されているKenjiさんと制作できたからこそ発想できたアルバムコンセプトとなりました。

The album name "Washi soul" was inspired by The Beatles "Rubber soul".  Washi is Japanese paper. To put it simply, it's like sending a soul of soulsin-g to the world as a Japanese singer. At the same time, the album concept "和 wa" was formed, and I used Katsushika Hokusai's work for the jacket and so on. It was an album concept that I could come up with because I was able to produce it with Kenji, who is active all over the world.

track9,11「あなたがいるから」には2019年にライブで出会った東京 在住のピアニスト吉野ユウヤさんに参加をお願いし素晴らしいピア ノを弾いて頂きました。track9では函館のベーシスト小野太輝さん にもサポートをして頂き、この曲では４人の音が融合しました。

For track9,11 "Because you are", I asked Yuya Yoshino, a pianist living in Tokyo, who we met live in 2019, to play a wonderful pianist. Hakodate bassist Taiki Ono also supported me on track9, and the sounds of the four people were fused in this song.

最後に、微力ではございますが「Washi soul」の売上は【soulsin-g Charity Action for Hakodate】としてライブハウスや飲食店等への寄付、 函館の音楽文化の発展のために全額使用することと致しました。 コロナ禍だからこそ出来た奇跡的なアルバム「Washi soul」。 少しでも多くの方に聴いて頂けることを願ってやみません。

Finally, although it is a small effort, the sales of "Washi soul" will be used as [soulsin-g Charity Action for Hakodate] for donations to small music venues and restaurants, and for the development of Hakodate's music culture. The miraculous album "Washi soul" was made because of  lockdown. I hope that as many people as possible can listen to it.
